My personal approach would be to add nutritive elements such as molasses, nettle powder, chlorophyll. Juliette in her book Complete Herbal Handbook for Farm and Stable has this for anemia:
“A short fast (two days) to cleans and tone the system. Then a very green diet, also iron-rich foods such as molasses, oats, watercress, bramble (including fruits), rest-harrow, chicory, chickweed, burdock. Iodine-rich foods such as seaweed, Iceland moss, Irish moss, white cabbage, carrots and artichokes. Expose the animal to all possible sunlight; do not confine…”
