Saving here for looking at later. Various answers for the calcium:phosphorus ratio of timothy hay.
“Timothy hay seemed to have a lower CP concentration (14.4%) compared with reed canarygrass hay (17.1%) and a more desirable Ca:P ratio at 1.6:1 compared with 0.8:1 for reed canarygrass hay.”
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17032805/This has a table listing timothy at .48%ca and .23%p
https://extension.okstate.edu/fact-sheets/minerals-for-horses-calcium-and-phosphorus.htmlThis seems like it should cite sources, but states:
“The ideal calcium: phosphorus ratio if approximately 2:1. Alfalfa hay is higher in calcium than grass hay, whereas grass hay is higher in phosphorus. The average alfalfa hay calcium: phosphorus ratio is 5:1, whereas many grass hays range 1:1-2. The exception is timothy, with favorable calcium: phosphorus ratio of approximately 2:1.”
