Ok… so idk what to do. Any and ALL advice is truly greatly appreciated!!!!! Thanks in advance!

    (Back story)

My dad passed away a few months back unexpectedly (altho he’d had cancer for the last 15 years on and off he was truly something else and in the end it wasn’t even the cancer that killed him!!! Which is why we didn’t have time to find out what to do bc he got a fungal infection while in the hospital doing some routine tests and blood and was gone literally over night it spread to his brain and he was gone before I could even get there…) that being said pretty much my entire life he raised cattle and we had horses that’s about the extent of MY animal knowledge sadly but because his cancer was literally eating his bones (multiple myeloma) he ended up selling most the cattle and instead bought sheep (um like there was well over 250 when I first got to the farm!!! Lol he did EVERYTHING BIG in his life lol) and 2 nanny goats (not sure the type but they are super friendly milk goats I guess oh and they have little button ears its both cute and weird lol) anyhow I know NOTHING about sheep’s or goat’s but by God I’m trying so so soooooooo hard to keep this farm going and his legacy alive long enough for his oldest grandson to inherit the place/animals (which is what my dad wanted and fought so hard to make it long enough to see that happen… he almost did!!! But for now it’s up to me as his oldest child and the only one willing and semi-capable lol to save the farm…) I lost a shit load of sheep learning but truly the goats were always so easy!!! Until this last week…

    (Currently)

So Monday my nephew and i show up to feed and immediately getting out the truck he says omg something died!!! I get out and bam it hits me too! We almost hyperventilate sniffing everywhere trying to find what died… and then I got by Carleen (the goat lol) and i almost threw up it was so horrid the smell was just omg! Anyways of course it was getting to be dusk so I grab a flash light and it literally looked like her bag had EXPLODED it popped for God’s sake!!! I have NO IDEA HOW WHEN OR WHY but omg its disgusting! I ended up pulling an all nighter and by the time the sun came up the next day I felt confident leaving her alone like that and thankfully after throughly cleaning it the smell was gone and it was overall all things considered looking ALOT better! (Sorry no pics before) so I’ve been basically cleaning it daily with a combo of hydrogen peroxide and an iodine type solution and again I can’t express how much BETTER it looks! But it still looks like it’s gunna slough off (which I did read online was good so… 🀞) I went to the vet looking for help and well don’t get me started!!! πŸ™„ they basically want me to either put her down or do a mastectomy ummmm yea im not rich and she’s not in pain her appetite is normal she’s literally exactly the same as before if not better bc she’s been getting more attention lol you honestly would never know anything wrkng by the way she acts!!! She has no fever and she let’s me get all up in the bo-bo and clean it with minimal discomfort (and the way it looks she should be screaming or goring me but nope! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ) I just spend $455 at tractor supply buying every kind of wound care available (I don’t plan on using it all I just wanted to make sure I had it in case I needed it) while looking for dosage guides online I found this website and thought MAYBE someone on here might be able to give me some advice or encouragement… I just want to give her EVERY chance bc clearly imo she WANTS to live… if tho at any point I feel she is in pain or her quality of life severely decreases of course I will think about putting her down… πŸ˜” i just really wanna give her a fair chance bc she deserves it! Thanks sorry so long ima talker! 😊

Ugh, I’m sorry for everything you’re going through. So sorry about your Dad. I can imagine the stress of trying to pull all this together. :/

On the doe, I’d flush externally with colloidal silver 1x daily and give a systemic such as oregano essential oil, see https://theholisticgoat.com/oregano-essential-oil-acute-dosage-guidelines/

We recently had a member going through gangrene mastitis in the FB group. I’m attaching a screenshot of what she did to successfully resolve her case.

Thanks so much I was going to wait until I knew for certain but it’s taking a wee bit longer than expected so here’s my semi-update: 😊

So far so good… she’s a trooper that’s for certain! And tbh I wish my dad had ALL goats lol when I first took over we had well over 250 sheep (we now have 29 to be exact lol) and I swear I must have lost atleast one a week back then I just couldn’t seem to keep them suckas alive no matter what I did! This goat tho has really really impressed me with her tenacity and absolute pleasant personality so thank you guys so much for all the help i followed pretty much all of it (except I didn’t have the c.silver but it’s now on my must have list) I did also end up giving her some b12 paste and garlic (idk where I read that lol) idk I’d have to look but probably a lil over 2 weeks in and she’s STILL kicking and showing NO SIGNS of illness whatsoever so… πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ everything I show a man they freak out and are like yep she’s gunna die or she’s gone septic πŸ™„ maybe hell idk but atleast I’m trying!!! Urghhhhh makes me so dang mad! I sure hope she DOES make it so I can tell each one she DIDNT die/go septic after all and that i a loely girl was able to get her thru it all by my lonesome! 😝 anyways the “busted bag” or I guess moreso the blown teet is allllllmost off thank god! First it shriveled up to look like a sac tbh lol and then it just kept getting drier and darker and slowly disconnected itself to now its only hanging on by two Lil strands lol it no longer smells thank god oh and the one other thing I did was spray some blue stuff on it (I forget the name I’ll update with it when I do the final update tho) it’s an aerosol liquid bandaid basically and the main reason I decided to use it was bc I was afraid of poop and even more so flies getting all in the pouch it had initially formed and festering so it kinda sealed out the bacteria (hopefully) and I believe it had some sort of fly deterrent in it… I also lined her pen with multiple fly sticks and I’m not sure if I’m embarrassed or proud to say that nightly I’d get in her stall and with an old broom sweep it out completely and mist it completely walls and all with an alcohol peppermint and citronella concoction I’d made to try to keep the bugs away before putting her a nice new fluffy bed of hay in there to sleep on 😁 let’s just say I’ve spent wayyyyyyyyyy too much time in there lately lol but she’s still here and still acting and eating the same if not better so 🀞 I’ll let you guys know once I know more thanks again!!! ❀️

Oh, that’s fantastic! Thanks for taking the time to update! Until it’s fully healed, we probably can’t say with certainty that she’s going to make it but I’d say her odds are very high at this point, given how much healing she’s done. Yay for healing! Goats are incredible creatures. <3
